Quick site update

Sorry for the lack of updates here recently, my computer got infected with a virus that eventually killed the motherboard. I have exhausted every possible option from reinstalling the OS to doing some things with the internals and at the end of all of that, it appears that the motherboard has met its maker. Luckily I was able to save all of my files so I have all of my images and everything like that.

I just ordered a new computer this morning so I will be back in action when the computer arrives. Sorry for the lack of updates but I have been drinking plenty of good beer in the mean time and I have even been brewing a bit. I have a Pale Ale going right now and I will post all of the information about it when my computer arrives. Thanks for stopping by and always remember to backup your data.

Some site updates

If you haven’t noticed the right hand sidebar has been going under a few changes recently. I am adding a few larger buttons to more easily navigate unique parts of the site along with the social media parts of the site. We do have a Facebook page now, which I was reluctant to do for a long time. I think it mainly stems from the fact that I used to view the number of fans as a measure of success. It might be a little true, but I’m looking at it as another outlet for the site to grow.

There will be some more changes coming soon, but those are mainly it for now. I didn’t do any “2010 year in review” post or a “plans for 2011 post,” but these changes are a very small part of what I plan on doing. I really want to start adding content for people new to craft brewing along with content for people who are into craft brewing, but want to know more about beer styles, history, and the like. I also plan on homebrewing a whole lot more this year because the displeasure of bottling is now behind me. This is has been open for just over two years now and our traffic has significantly increased in that time. I also have a few side project that are beer related that should be fun, but more on them later.

Thank you so much for visiting my site. I appreciate the comments and the e-mails that I get. If you have a Facebook account go ahead and “Like” our page.

Merry Christmas

We are about six hours away from Christmas at the time of posting this, but I wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. BreweryReviewery has gone through a lot of changes this year and has seen a large influx in traffic. Thank you for everyone who helps make this site possible. I will be doing a year end review around New Years, but until then, I am going to enjoy my family and my days off of work. I’ll also be working on my keezer (chest freezer + kegorator = keezer) that Santa brought me.

What a week!

It’s been far too long since I updated Brewery Reviewery. If you have been visiting and waiting on pins and needles waiting for an update, you may have noticed that we ran into some problems with being hacked. I think we have everything sorted out now, so it’s time to get back to the posting.

I have a ton of fall beers still left to post reviews for and I purchased a new batch of winters beers last weekend. Yesterday I actually got to volunteer at a local brewery and help them bottle. In all we did 35 cases in about an hour and a half. I wish my homebrew bottling went that quickly. The brewery that I helped out at was called Boxcar Brewing Company, which is about seven months old at this point.

They have strangely typical equipment for a new brewery; used dairy equipment. The two brewers, Jason and Jamie, where really nice guys who honestly appreciated the help. It was nice to be in a brewery and actually do something other than tour. Some free beer was more than enough payment for the little amount of work I did.  I’ll get back to normal updates this weekend, I just wanted to share my brewing excitement.

Moving sucks

My wife and I are just about settled into our new place. After about two and a half weeks of being displaced, I can happy to be done this process. Now if our apartment complex could fix our AC everything would be ready to go. I probably will not get back to normal updates till this weekend, but they are coming. A few highlights on the new apartment:

  • Gas stove (hooray quicker boils for homebrewing)
  • A large walk-in hall closet that my wife has already designated as “the place were all of your stupid beer stuff is going.”
  • There is a brewpub down the street
  • A beer store exists in the same shopping center as the brewpub, I am going to check out their selection today
  • While not beer related, this place is super nice compared to our last place and has a lot more room

I am looking forward to having everything fully settled, but we are close. On another note I have a job, which is awesome. So far everything about the east is better than Texas. To make our move to Delaware official I think a trip to Dogfish Head is in order.
