Video reviews?

I’ve been playing with the idea of putting up video reviews along with my normal written reviews. Before I invest the time and energy into making this a reality, I want to make sure there is some interest in it. So, is putting video reviews of the beer anything that you would be interested in? The details still need to be worked out, but I have all of the equipment and the know-how, I just want to make sure it is worth doing.

The general idea is to the written reviews with the pictures and the normal write-up and then have a video version of it as well. The video would show everything from pouring the beer to the first sips, initial impressions, and so on. I don’t know about you, but it is nice to have a first take right from when it started, instead of written down from a bit later. The videos would be posted to YouTube, Viddle, or Vimeo so that they could be viewed on this site and on the host site. If you could, leave me a comment to let me know if you like the idea and think it is worth doing or if you don’t. I’m just looking to get some feedback before I get into this.

  1. I have no objection to the inclusion of video, I guess, but no real interest in it either. If it’s just a supplement, then go ahead! But I find sometimes video usurps text; content creators put all their effort into the video and never get around to writing anything. Personally, I almost never watch web video, so if that happens I simply stop caring about the site altogether.

  2. I’d say do it as a supplement to the written reviews. I’ve been thinking of doing the same thing, but unlike you I don’t have the knowledge, equipment or the know-how!

I agree with Tom, I prefer reading but video is where its going to be in the future.

Why not do some video reviews and see what the feedback is?
